The tour begins in Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its rich history and cultural heritage. From there, you’ll embark on a scenic drive through diverse landscapes, passing through picturesque villages and breathtaking scenery.

One of the highlights of the trip is the camel trek through the Sahara Desert. You’ll have the unique opportunity to ride camels and witness the majestic beauty of the desert dunes, experiencing the magic of a sunset and sunrise in this otherworldly setting.

Itinerary

Day 1 - MARRAKECH - AIT BEN HADDOU - OUARZAZATE - DADES CANYON

After breakfast, depart at 8:00 to travel through the 2,260-meter-high Tizin Tichka mountain pass and south across the high Atlas Mountains. Tour of the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah and Ouarzazate. Free time to explore the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah on foot and climb to the summit for breathtaking valley vistas. To spend the night in the Dades Gorges, one must pass through the Valley of the Roses, which is well-known for this crop and the various beauty products made from it. Dades for dinner and the night.

Day 2 - DADES CANYON - TOUDGHA GORGES - ERFOUD - MERZOUGA (ERG CHEBBI)

After breakfast, check out of your hotel in the Dades Valley at 8 a.m. and drive around the vibrant Berber villages along the 1000 Kasbahs road. You can reach Tineghir, with its lovely palm grove and Jewish quarter, 45 kilometers away. You proceed to the Todra Gorges (Todgha), where you have free time to embark on a hike through the 300-meter-high canyons, a popular destination for rock climbers. After that, you’ll head out for the Erg Chebbi dunes in the Merzouga Sahara desert, stopping along the way for lunch before you reach Erfoud. After that, we’ll go toward the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. We keep moving farther into the desert until, out of nowhere, the dunes come into view.

You will get ready to leave on the camels in the afternoon. After arriving at the bivouac, you ride a camel to the top of the dunes to witness the sunset. Arrive at the bivouac, share Berber folklore over dinner and the fire. Spend the night in the camp’s tents.

Day 3 - MERZOUGA - KHAMLIA - RISSANI - ERG CHEBBI

After breakfast and a cozy hot shower in the hostel, we ride the dromedary back to the hotel. Today, we will explore the desert area and the amazing Erg Chebbi desert dunes. We’ll take you on a tour around the sand dunes where you can witness the nomadic people’s way of life and the breathtakingly shifting dunes’ contrasts. In order to see the Gnawa musicians, we will travel to Khamlia’s “black village.” We’re going to the ancient capital of Rissani for lunch, where we’ll have a traditional Berber pizza. You can visit the traditional markets after lunch.

We will return to the breathtaking Erg Chebbi dunes in the afternoon to witness the sunset and spend the night in a hotel at the base of the dunes.

Day 4 - MERZOUGA – ERFOUD – ZIZ VALLEY – AZROU – FES

Traveling to Erfoud after breakfast, where we will pause to observe the process of incorporating locally discovered fossils into furniture and other items. From there, the road heads north to Er Rachidia, the southern province, and the Ziz Valley, which is notable for the vast amount of palm trees that grow there. Over the Tizi-n-Talghoumt pass, we go. After lunch in Midelt, dubbed “the apple capital,” we will travel to Azrou, where we can stop and feed the monkeys by hand, by traveling along a gorgeous road surrounded by cedar and green oak trees.
