You will depart in the morning at 8:30 from your riad or hotel in Fes and go south. After passing Ifrane in the south, you’ll see that the homes have sloping roofs, which is somewhat unique for Morocco. This is how the wintertime snowfall is handled.

Traveling along a lovely road surrounded by green oaks and cedar trees, you continue driving over the Middle Atlas Mountains and via the Tizi-n-Talremt pass until you reach Azrou, where you may spot Barbary apes watching for food. You relax into your tent at the campsite and nosh on some Moroccan pastries and a soothing drink of tea. After that, you ride a camel to the 250-meter crest of the Erg Chebbi dunes. From the top of the dunes, you will enjoy the sunset!

Dinner is provided back at the camp, and then there’s an evening around a campfire with nomad music and drumming. You spend the night in your tent, which has a king-sized bed, mattresses, linens, cushions, blankets, and rugs, as well as lovely Moroccan furniture that have been thoughtfully placed to improve your stay. It also has a private bathroom and shower.

If you wake up early enough, you will be rewarded by an amazing spectacle of the sunrise, when the colour dunes and the play of shadows are an incredible sight.

After breakfast, experience a scenic drive through the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Back on the paved road, you travel Between Tinjdad and Erfoud, you can stop to visit the “khettarat”, an ingenious underground water channel system designed to minimise evaporation of the water in the desert heat. It is fascinating to climb down to experience the coolness below ground and to marvel at the ancient engineering involved.

In the Toudgha Gorges, enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants overlooking the valley. Then, you have the opportunity to walk beyond the gorge itself, by the village gardens and fields.

the itinerary continues through the beautiful Valley of the Roses as far as Kel’aa M’gouna, where over 4000 tons of roses are harvested every spring from this desert oasis! Here, you can visit a local cooperative producing cosmetic articles from the valley’s abundant roses. These organic products are highly valued.

From here, you travel through the road of a thousand Kasbahs as far as the Skoura Oasis, where you stop to visit the Kasbah Amredhil, which used to be depicted in the old 50 dirham banknote. The kasbah has been beautifully restored and is well worth visiting; constructed entirely of adobe, an excellent building material that keeps room temperature cool in the summer and warm in the winter due to the thickness of the walls.

By the end of the day, you check in to your guest house, where you spend the night with dinner and breakfast.

Your journey to Marrakech begins after breakfast. You exit the main road and take a minor road to the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou after a 45-minute trip. As one of the nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Kingdom, it is the most well-known Kasbah in Morocco. It is also more well-known for serving as the setting for several Hollywood blockbusters, such as “Alexander,” “Gladiator,” and a few sequences from the acclaimed television series “Game of Thrones.”

From this point on, the stunning Ounila Valley, with its many curves in the road, amazing rock formations, Berber settlements, and smaller Kasbahs, stretches farther northwest. to last, you arrive to Kasbah Telouet, the once opulent home of the Glaoui Family, the Lords of the Atlas.
